Hello, I'm James Wheatley and this year, I'm running for Informatics School Representative. I'm doing this because I feel that Informatics needs someone who is willing and able to represent our views, present our ideas and push for change. When choosing a School Rep it can be tempting to just vote for the guy in your year or one of your friends, but this is a mistake. The School of Informatics is very good at listening to our problems and acting to fix them, so it is important that we choose someone who is able to use this to improve our department. As someone who has been part of getting a new Maths for Informatics course, I believe I have already shown that I am that person.
If elected, I will push for changes such as smaller tutorial groups and a reevaluation of third year coursework load. Full details are on my Pledges page. I'm always interested to hear about any problems you're having or ideas that you have, so please get in touch by using the form on the Contact page or emailing me at ask@james-wheatley.co.uk. I'm happy to either answer by email or to arrange to meet you so we can discuss it. Also feel free to come over and ask questions if you see me in Appleton Tower.
